Ketchum Strengthens Brand Practice, Germany and China

Ketchum has made two major moves designed to strengthen its global marketing practice and its operations in Germany and China.

NEW YORK, May 16—Ketchum has made two major moves designed to strengthen its global marketing practice and its operations in Germany and China. Marianne Friese, director of the global brand marketing practice and head of Ketchum Germany, has been named partner and general manager of Ketchum Newscan Beijing, and Barri Rafferty, most recently associate director of brand marketing in New York has been named director of the practice.

The German operations, meanwhile, will report to three experienced Ketchum executives who get new roles: Jochen Leufen will be responsible for the corporate, tech and new media practices; Sabine Stadel-Strauch will develop the food, brand and healthcare practices; and Nicola Pizzoni is responsible for the financial, technical and administrative side of operations in Germany.

“The appointment of Marianne Friese to head our office in Beijing, represents another major step forward for the agency as we move experienced senior Ketchum people from one part of the world to another to integrate our network and more effectively service clients,” says Jerry Olszewski, senior partner and head of international for the agency. During her 11 years at Ketchum, Friese has served as managing director in Germany for seven years and as global brand marketing practice leader for four years.
