LONDON: Six months after quitting her role as UK MD at Text 100, Kirsty Leighton has returned to the industry as EVP and head of Europe at multi-country PR specialist BondPR.

Leighton, who left Text 100 after just four months to spend more time with her family, returns in a part-time capacity. The former global head of client development at Waggener Edstrom has been charged with elevating BondPR’s consulting capabilities in Europe.

“My role is to get the team gelled, maximise work on existing clients like Regus and predominantly work on attracting some new types of business,” Leighton told the Holmes Report. “There is some work to be done to tune up the offering in Europe.”

At BondPR, Leighton will report to CEO Tom Burgess, who has built a network that includes operations in the UK, France, the US, the Middle East, Australia and Latin America. Last year, BondPR merged its US operations with San Francisco agency Rainemakers – which is headed by another former Waggener Edstrom executive, Debra Raine.

Leighton added that the flexibility offered by BondPR will help smoothe her return to the sector. “I needed to put my children first but now I have an opportunity to go in and make a difference to a small, emerging consultancy, on my own terms.”

Leighton spent five years at Waggener Edstrom in a variety of roles. Prior to that, she worked for Edelman, Orange and Weber Shandwick.
