NEW YORK—Paris Hilton, the hotels heiress notorious for her Hollywood partying, has reportedly retained Dan Klores Communications, a New York public relations firm with entertainment media relations and crisis communications expertise.
Hilton has been in the headlines recently because of a sex tape—widely available on the Internet—featuring her with former boyfriend Rick Salamon. She is also starring in a new Fox reality show in which she moves in with an ordinary rural family for a few weeks.
Klores’ first move appears to be to cancel several scheduled media appearances. Hilton pulled out of a visit to David Letterman’s Late Show and a spokesman said she would be keeping a low profile until the scandal blows over.
But New York Times columnist John Leland recently observed that the only thing that could really “damage her reputation as a vapid, self-involved rich girl” would be a videotape showing her doing something worthwhile with her life, such as “developing mathematical models for a low-cost irrigation system to be used in the developing world.
According to report in The Village Voice, DKC is receiving $50,000 from the Hilton family for counseling Hilton.
