LOS ANGELES—Lagrant Communications, one of the largest multicultural public relations firms on the west coast, has  launched an entertainment and sports practice and has named Christina Branson managing director.

The new practice will specialize in developing integrated marketing campaigns for entertainment (including film, television, music, and literature) and sports clients who wish to reach urban audiences. Using celebrity procurement, entertainment marketing, identity development, product placement and event planning, the LC entertainment and sports team will straddle the corporate and entertainment worlds to create strategic alliances with new and existing clients.

“The creation and launch of the new E&S practice goes beyond our firm’s longstanding dedication of advancing diversity via multiple outlets,” says Kim Hunter, president and CEO. “It demonstrates our full-fledged commitment to work on behalf of our clients to create the most innovative and effective branding opportunities,”

Branson was previously an account director and served as the lead for The Absolut Spirits Company and Union Bank of California accounts. She coordinated activities for hip hop icon Jay Z’s anniversary event at his 40-40 Club in New York; award-winning journalist, Tavis Smiley’s SuccesSoul Gala; jazz legend Eddie Palmieri concerts at Harlem-based Aaron Davis Hall, and launch events for Absolut Apeach Vodka. She has also worked with lifestyle expert and restaurateur B. Smith and actress Persia White of the sitcom Girlfriends.
