NEW YORK, July 12—Edelman Public Relations Worldwide has named Tim Scerba, most recently published of Latin Trade magazine and of counsel to New York-based Vistance Group, as managing director of its Latin American regional office in Miami. Scerba will be responsible for expanding Edelman’s Latin American practice—currently ranked fourth in the region—serving both companies based in North America with Latin America operations and companies from the Latin America region seeking increased market presence in North America.

“Miami is recognized as the business gateway between North and South American markets and is the ideal location for Edelman Latin America’s hub in North America,” says Vivian Pinto Hirsch, president of Edelman Latin America. “By expanding our presence in Miami, we will be better positioned to serve our existing and future clients with operations in the Americas while creating a true and seamless bridge between both continents.”

To increase synergies between Edelman’s North and South America operations, Scerba and his team will be based in Edelman’s Miami office and the U.S. team there, which serves clients including Bacardi, Cancun, Eckerd, Holland & Knight and GE Digital Energy.

Scerba was previously executive vice president at Hill & Knowlton, and senior manager in the firm’s Latin America technology practice. He also spent time at Rogers & Cowan and Burson-Marsteller.
