MILAN—Pleon has appointed consultancy veteran Marcello Laugelli as the new CEO of its Italian operation and as member of the Pleon European board. Laugelli takes over as CEO from Pleon Italy co-founder Gianni Catalfamo, who will remain involved with the firm’s Italian operations as chairman while also driving Pleon’s social media practice as European director.
Prior to joining Pleon in 2000 Laugelli worked for five years at Burson-Marsteller. He has been managing director of the agency’s Milan and Rome offices since 2001.
Catalfamo has been leading the agency’s social media activities since 2004 and has been a champion of its integration into client and team communications programs. The Italian office has become the agency’s social media hub, creating award-winning projects such as the www.Tuttovitamine.it project developed with Bayer AG.
