WASHINGTON, D.C.—Michael Hotra, an expert in litigation communication and civil justice reform, has joined APCO Worldwide as a vice president. Previously, Hotra spent more than five years at the American Tort Reform Association (ATRA) where he served as director of legislation and communications for the 300-member association. He was also ATRA’s chief communication strategist—responsible for its media strategy, public positions on civil justice reform policy and web presence.
According to Neal Cohen, chairman of APCO North America, Hotra “brings a tremendous amount of experience communicating complex litigation and legal policy issues to a broad spectrum of audiences, including elected officials, in-house and outside counsel, and consumers. His ability to integrate legislative strategy and communications will expand APCO’s capacity to assist clients facing a hostile litigation environment.”
Hotra will work closely with other members of APCO’s team including Cohen; Kent Jarrell, senior vice president and director of litigation communication; Robert Schooling, senior vice president and director of public affairs; and Myron Marlin, senior vice president and senior strategist; advising clients on effectively communicating during trials, suits prior to trial and civil justice matters.
