M Booth to Promote Safe and Secure Online Commerce

NEW YORK—The Merchant Risk Council has named M Booth & Associates as its public relations agency. The agency’s business-to-business and technology practice will promote the organization’s mission: to protect and encourage safe, secure online commerce for merchants and consumers.

M Booth’s “proven track record in retail and e-commerce will help bring visibility to our message and build consumer confidence in shopping on the Internet,” says Julie Fergerson, co-chairman of the MRC and co-founder of ClearCommerce.

The two-pronged campaign will target consumer media to inform shoppers that it is safe to shop online, and trade press to educate retailers on how to safeguard against online fraud. The firm will promote the MRC’s research with online merchants and its collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, state and local law enforcement agencies, U.S. Postal Inspectors and U.S. Secret Service.

The Merchant Risk Council is comprised of leading online retailers, vendors, financial institutions and law enforcement partners established to protect orders over the Internet.
