NEW YORK—Hill & Knowlton has named Judi Frost Mackey as U.S. director of the firm’s corporate and financial practice. She will report to MaryLee Sachs, chairman of Hill & Knowlton USA, and becomes a member of the U.S. executive committee. She will be based in New York, and will continue her role as director of the New York corporate and financial practice.
Mackey takes over from Ron Hartwig, who will become a senior counselor in the practice. Harlan Teller, who left H&K earlier this year to start a Chicago office for Financial Dynamics, had been head of the global corporate practice.
The appointment is the third major personnel move by H&K in the past few weeks, following the appointment of Paul Oestreicher as head of the U.S. healthcare practice and Kelli Parsons as general manager of the Washington, D.C., office.
“Judi and her team have successfully grown our New York corporate and financial practice in the past year and a half, re-establishing it as a preferred destination for corporate business and for top talent at all levels,” says Sachs. “She embodies the best qualities of a superb manager of people, clients and new business.”
Under Mackey’s leadership, the New York practice has added several clients including America West Airlines, Computer Associates, DSM, Kanoodle.com, and UK Trade & Investment.
In her new role, Mackey will oversee H&K’s traditional corporate reputation consulting, as well as its specialist expertise in crisis communications and issues management, financial communications, internal communications, investor relations, litigation communications, labor relations, and transactions and restructurings.
Mackey joined Hill & Knowlton in January 2004 from Burson-Marsteller, where she served as chair of the U.S. corporate and financial practice. Prior to that, she spent 14 years at Edelman New York.
