NEW YORK—Havas-owned Magnet Communications, the 24th largest PR firm, in the U.S., has signed an affiliate agreement with Baltimore-based Warschawski Public Relations. Warschawski was named “Boutique Agency of the Year” and the “Best Boutique Agency to Work For” by The Holmes Report earlier this year.

The affiliation provides Magnet with a fast-growing, highly respected presence in the Baltimore and Washington markets. Warschawski will enjoy full access to Magnet’s national network and the Havas global network—providing media expertise around the world—as well as the in-depth knowledge of Magnet’s industry-based practices.

The announcement is the latest in a series of moves by Magnet to strengthen its national network. In May, the agency acquired Hauser Bragg Communications to augment its Chicago presence, and in March the firm entered into an agreement to manage Arnold PR—another Havas agency—in Boston.

According to Magnet chief executive David Kratz, “We’ve invested significantly in our network this year, and have been looking to add leading capabilities in the mid-Atlantic region. Warschawski came to our attention through its work as well as the industry honors it won this year. When we started talking, the fit was apparent immediately. Its creative approach, broad capabilities, and leading position in the mid-Atlantic region made it just the kind of partner we wanted.”

Says David Warschawski, president of Warschawski Public Relations, “The next step in our growth was being able to offer clients on-the-ground presence and local expertise in any location across the globe. We spent a great deal of time researching companies and meeting with top executives to determine which agency would be the best partner. Magnet’s impressive accomplishments over the past two years and the positive industry buzz we were hearing made it stand out from the pack.”
