NEW YORK, October 26—Booz Allen Hamilton, a leading global management and technology consulting firm, has selected Makovsky & Company to manage its public relations throughout North America. The account, believed to be worth in the mid six figures, was previously with Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, a unit of WPP Group.

The program will include promoting the firm’s intellectual capital and partner perspectives with business and financial media, as well as positioning the firm’s award-winning publication, strategy + business, a quarterly thought-leadership magazine for senior business executives and the people who influence them.

According to Tim Wallace, executive VP at Makovsky, “Most of the work will be the traditional leadership positioning, promoting some of the firm’s intellectual capital. But we will also be promoting the content of strategy + business,” starting with a special event in Washington next month to highlight Booz Allen’s thinking on the electoral reform issue.

Makovsky has extensive experience in the management consulting arena, having conducted programs for clients including Corporate Decisions, Arthur D. Little, and EDS. At Booz Allen, the firm will work closely with Michael Bolger, who heads the public relations function, and former New York Times advertising correspondent Randall Rothenberg, who edits strategy + business.

With 11,000 employees on six continents, Booz Allen generates annual sales of $2 billion. It provides services in strategy, organization, operations, systems, and technology.
