SUBANG—Malaysia Airlines, still recovering from two tragic incidents in two years, has appointed Faridah Hashim as head of corporate communications.

Hashim brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate communications and management capacities and will be assisting the company in implementing communication with its diverse stakeholders. She joins Malaysia Airlines from her previous role as head of corporate communications for Axiata Group Berhad.

Prior to that, she was director and PR consultant at Media Business Network and at Hill & Knowlton in the UK.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared in March of 2014, carrying 239 passengers onboard. It has yet to be found. A few months later, MH17 was shot down over Ukraine, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew. After criticism of its response to the first incident, the airline has been working with Ketchum for public relations.
