CHICAGO—MAPICS, a leading global provider of enterprise solutions for manufacturers, has engaged Ruder Finn to manage a strategic communications program designed to further establish the company as a major force in the rapidly evolving mid-tier enterprise resource planning market.

“We were immediately impressed with Ruder Finn’s strong understanding of both the ERP market and the unique challenges that manufacturers face as they compete in today’s global business environment,” said Sandra Hofmann, CIO for MAPICS, who is overseeing the execution of the communications program. “We are very pleased to be augmenting our internal team with the capabilities and resources of a world-class PR firm that brings strategic thinking, domain knowledge and a reputation for consistent results.”

Ruder Finn’s responsibilities include the coordination of a comprehensive public relations program that spans media and industry analyst relations as well as thought leadership activities. Initial outreach efforts will focus solely on U.S. audiences, with the potential to expand internationally in 2005.

The account team is led by Ruder Finn senior vice president John Howlett, who manages the firm’s dedicated enterprise software practice in Chicago. Erika Hoeft, management supervisor, is leading the execution of the program.
