TORONTO—Healthcare expert Peter Matheson Gay has joined Weber Shandwick as creative director for healthcare in North America and national practice leader for healthcare in Canada.

Matheson Gay will be responsible for developing creative platforms and innovative approaches for North American healthcare clients and overseeing the strategic vision, direction and execution of the Canadian healthcare offering. He will report to Laura Schoen, president of the agency’s global healthcare practice and Greg Power, president of Weber Shandwick Canada.

Matheson Gay returns to Canada from New York where he worked at Cohn & Wolfe advising global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other healthcare clients. He also worked out of the firm’s London office where he provided strategic counsel to a number of international and pan-European clients.

Prior to taking on a global leadership role in New York, Matheson Gay worked for several Canadian agencies including Hill & Knowlton, PraxisPR and Veritas Communications.
