SARATOGA, CA—Matthew Anderson, who stepped down from his role as communications chief at News Corp in January 2012, is joining streaming video leader as the company's first-ever chief marketing officer.

Over the past year, Anderson served as a strategic advisor to Roku focusing on corporate strategy and development, including the company’s recently completed fund-raising effort, as well as supporting marketing and communications endeavors. According to Anderson, "The explosive growth of streaming is the most exciting trend in media.”

Anthony Wood, founder and CEO of Roku, says Anderson’s “deep media and marketing experience will be instrumental in amplifying our brand voice and growing the business as we enter the next phase in the streaming market."
