PLANO, TX—EDS has promoted Thomas Mattia to corporate vice president of global communications with expanded responsibilities for all of the company’s advertising, media relations and online operations. In his new role, Mattia is responsible for media and industry analyst relations, advertising, community affairs, internal communications, executive support, Internet operations and creative services.

Since joining EDS in July 2000, Mattia has built a communications function that has more than doubled the company’s media coverage, maximized appearances on Super Bowl broadcasts and produced award-winning programs for the COMDEX trade show.

Mattia joined EDS from Ford Motor Company, where he held several executive positions over five years. Prior to joining Ford, Mattia served as executive vice president of Hill & Knowlton’s public relations organization in Asia Pacific and held a number of management positions with IBM over a 10-year career.

As part of the realignment, several managers have new or expanded roles. They include:

· Jeff Baum is now the director of corporate communications, gaining responsibility for community affairs in addition to media relations and communications research.
· John Clendening was recently appointed director of enterprise communications, a newly created position responsible for EDS’ lines of business including industry analyst relations.
Cheryl Smith-Johnson recently assumed responsibility for managing all of EDS’ print and broadcast advertising.
