WASHINGTON, D.C.—APCO Worldwide has appointed Dudley Fishburn non-executive chairman of APCO U.K., and Simon Miller as the new managing director of APCO U.K.
Fishburn has experience working in media, politics and business. He was with the Economist for 19 years, first as American editor and then executive editor. He also served as a member of parliament for Kensington and worked in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major on privatization and foreign affairs. He recently stepped down from a six-year term as treasurer of Britain’s biggest charity, The National Trust.
“Dudley’s broad experience will be invaluable to the firm as we move into an exciting new phase in APCO’s development,” says APCO chief executive Margery Kraus. “In addition to his position in London, Fishburn will also serve on APCO’s global senior counselor team that includes a number of former ambassadors and senior officials in government and business.”
Miller, most recently a board director at Hill & Knowlton in London, was also head of public affairs at Railtrack from 1996 until 2000. As managing director of APCO U.K. he will take charge of a 35-person team and report to Brad Staples, chairman of APCO Europe.
