MENLO PARK, April 27—Former CNN correspondent John Metaxas has joined E*Trade as chief corporate communications and government affairs officer. He will lead the company’s internal and external corporate communications teams as well as its investor relations and government affairs practices and will report to Christos Cotsakos, the company’s chief executive officer and chairman of the board.

The first priority for Metaxas, who covered the Nasdaq exchange for CNN’s Moneyline, will be communicating E*Trade’s revenue diversification strategy and its vision of repositioning itself as a digital financial media company.

According to Cotsakos. “John brings to E*Trade a wealth of knowledge and experience in journalism, business, legal and governmental affairs issues, that will be integral to his ability to lead our interaction with the media, analyst community and key government officials.”
Since joining CNN in 1994, Metaxas has anchored several financial news programs, including Your Money, CNN’s weekly look at personal finance. Previously, he was a correspondent with CNBC and anchored the nightly business segment for the CBS affiliate in Hartford. He also covered the 1988 presidential campaign as a reportorial producer with ABC News, in addition to working on network news broadcasts, including World News Tonight with Peter Jennings.
