NEW YORK, Apriul 3—Middleberg Euro RSCG has promoted Aaron Kwittken, the firm’s managing director, to president, and Patrick Resk, its chief financial officer, to the additional role of chief operating officer. Founder Don Middleberg continues as chairman and CEO.

The appointments are designed to solidify Middleberg Euro RSCG’s top management team and provide clients with the best possible agency structure.

“This is an historic announcement for our agency,” said Middleberg.  “These positions were deliberately kept open until the absolute best-qualified people emerged. In Aaron and Patrick we have found two extremely bright, high-energy individuals who personify our culture of professionalism, integrity, client service and employee support.”

Kwittken will focus on client management and service and Resk will be responsible for strategic planning—including future mergers and acquisitions—as well as senior executive recruitment. Both will work with Middleberg in guiding the strategic development of the firm.

“Our agency has undergone a metamorphosis this past year as we have reduced our exposure to Internet-related business from 70 percent of our client base to 10 percent,” said Middleberg. “In some ways we have gone back to the future. Our historic core competencies in corporate and financial services and consumer are now more of a focus than ever, along with a new vertical in life sciences, directed by Aaron.”

Under the new management structure, Rosemary Ostmann will continue to head up the agency’s consumer group and the technology practice is being led by Matt Wolfrom. The agency is actively seeking other qualified professionals to lead the company into other specialty areas.
