NEW YORK—The Abernathy MacGregor Group, the Havas-owned corporate and financial communications specialist, has named Adam Miller president of the firm. Miller, who also continues as chief operating officer, assumes additional responsibility for the firm’s day-to-day operations. He will also continue to head the firm’s media, communications and entertainment practice group.

Miller succeeds James MacGregor, who has been named vice chairman and will continue to work with clients on matters of communications strategy and crisis management, and will direct the development of new approaches to emerging client issues. Miller and MacGregor will continue to report to James Abernathy, the firm’s chairman and chief executive officer.

“Over the last 12 years, Adam has played a major role in the growth and success of AMG.” says Abernathy said. “During that time, he has advised some of the nation’s most important corporations on a wide variety of challenging situations, including some of the largest and most important M&A transactions. As chief operating officer, he has been instrumental in the development of new executive talent, new professional capabilities, and in the formation, with our overseas partners, of AMO, the leading global financial communications group. This promotion is a testament to his outstanding contributions, dedication and leadership.”

Miller joined Abernathy MacGregor in 1994 as an account executive specializing in mergers and acquisitions, assumed responsibility for the media and entertainment practice area in 1999, and became chief operating officer in 2001. Earlier, he worked at Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart.
