Motorola Vet Brashear Joins H&K as Senior Counselor
CHICAGO—Albert “Rusty” Brashear, who stepped down from his position as chief communications officer at telecommunications giant Motorola, has joined Motorola public relations agency of record Hill & Knowlton as senior counselor in the firm’s corporate practice.

In his new role, Brashear will be working with H&K’s corporate clients on media relations strategy, crisis work, and corporate governance issues. He will also be involved in new business development efforts for the firm. He will report to Harlan Teller, who heads H&K’s corporate practice.

Brashear was deputy White House press secretary during the Reagan administration, and also served as head of communications for the Environmental Protection Agency.

Brashear is the second Chicago area corporate communications executive to move to the PR agency business recently. Last month, John Kiker, head of global communications at United Airlines, joined the New York office of Edelman.
