EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.—The MWW Group has been named the public relations agency of record for Oxford Health Plans. The account, believed to be worth in the high six-figures, was formerly handled by New York’s Magnet Communications, and was awarded to MWW after a competitive review that included APCO Worldwide and Burson-Marsteller.

MWW will be responsible for business-to-business and business-to-consumer communications for the company, communicating with a diverse group of stakeholders that includes individual policyholders, employers, and hospital groups. The assignment may eventually expand to include public affairs and issues management, but the initial focus is on marketing communications.

“The MWW Group provides us the experience and high-level counsel of a national agency, with the deep knowledge of healthcare in our primary and expansion markets,” said Maria Gordon Shydlo, director of public relations at Oxford, which is headquartered in Trumbull, Conn., and serves employers and individuals in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

The account will be led from MWW’s New Jersey headquarters by senior vice president Careen Winters.
