LONDON—Mobile payments startup MyCheck has hired CCgroup for UK PR support, shortly after securing $5m in backing from Spanish bank Santander.
MyCheck has tasked CCgroup with helping the company to build its brand, increase awareness and support lead generation.
After launching as a consumer app in 2011, MyCheck now has more of a B2B focus, working with big restaurant chains like Busaba Eathai and Prezzo to handle mobile payments and loyalty.
"The mobile payments market seems to be the subject of a terminal hype cycle - there's a great deal of talk but very little action," said MyCheck Europe VP Gil Hazan. "MyCheck has been working with major brands, particularly restaurants, for a number of years now. We want to demonstrate that mobile payments are here today and are making a significant and sustainable business impact."
"We needed an agency that could help us tell a differentiated story that cuts through the noise and deliver both column inches and sales leads," added Hazan. "It was critical the agency has a deep understanding of the market and influencer landscape."
