Nelson to Head Communications at VH1

Laura Nelson has been named senior vice president of communications at VH1. She will report to Christina Norman, the cable station’s general manager, and will be responsible for all communications functions.

NEW YORK, July 30—Laura Nelson has been named senior vice president of communications at VH1. She will report to Christina Norman, the cable station’s general manager, and will be responsible for all communications functions at VH1 and its digital channels including VH1 Classic and VH1.com.
 
Nelson was previously vice president, communications at Oxygen Media where she built the network’s first ever media relations department. In her position, she oversaw all media relations and corporate communications for the network as its distribution grew from 10 million homes to 43 million homes in the U.S.
 
According to Norman. “Her experience in launching some of cable television’s most memorable series will be invaluable as we begin to roll out our new programming later this year.”
Before joining Oxygen, Nelson was VP, corporate communications at Comedy Central.
 
She also served as an account executive at Dan Klores Associates.
