SAN FRANCISCO, July 17—Alissa Bushnell, former director of corporate communications for software giant Network Associates and previously a veteran of Porter Novelli Convergence Group, has opened her own technology public relations firm. Zimbida Public Relations has already signed two clients—VeriSign and OpenDesign—and will offer a full range of PR services including strategic counsel, media and analyst relations, media training, technical writing, and corporate communications.

The firm’s name means “buzz” in Portuguese, Bushnell says. “Our name says a lot about us. We have a solid team that generates a lot of energy by working together—that’s the buzz of our culture.  We throw all that energy and intelligence into establishing our clients as leaders, positioning them as part of the ever present hum in their respective industries and the first companies to come to mind when reporters, analysts and customers think of their sector.”

Bushnell will be Zimbida’s CEO and chief account strategist, and is joined by account director Cabe Franklin, previously with PNCG and Ogilvy Public Relations; and senior account executives Caroline Bowers and Caroline Gick, both PNCG veterans.

“At Zimbida, we combine the focus of a small agency—working smarter, faster and more effectively for our clients—with the staff experience of a large agency,” says Bushnell. “For clients, this means they receive the best strategic, integrated communications counsel and the most effective implementation from seasoned public relations professionals.”
