LONDON—Fleishman-Hillard International Communications has named Lucien Vallun, currently managing director of the firm’s Johannesburg office, as managing director of Fleishman-Hillard London. Vallun succeeds and will continue to report to Kevin Bell, who will now focus more fully on his role as Fleishman-Hillard’s regional president for the U.K., Africa, and the Middle East.
Kevin Welman has been named managing director of Fleishman-Hillard Johannesburg.
Vallun established Fleishman-Hillard Johannesburg (formerly Vallun Wilkins Associates) in October 1985. In addition to his responsibilities as managing director of that office, he has overseen the development of the three Fleishman-Hillard offices in Africa. He is a former journalist with The Pretoria News and Thomson Publications before he entered public relations in 1972 with Barlow Rand and held corporate positions with Leyland South Africa and South African Breweries.
Welman, who joined Fleishman-Hillard Johannesburg as an intern in 1996, has focused primarily on serving clients in the financial services arena, but also has experience in the automotive and insurance industries.
Bell began his career with Michael Forsyth Associates in 1980. He was a founding director of Westminster Strategy in 1987, and established Lowe Bell Political (later Bell Pottinger Public Affairs) in 1994. He joined Fleishman-Hillard’s partner agency GPC International in 2000, and was appointed managing director of Fleishman-Hillard UK in 2004, before assuming his current role earlier this year.
