NEW YORK, August 9—Bob Jones, named chief executive of Morgen-Walke following the departure of its two founders last year, is leaving the firm, now known as FD Morgen-Walke. A new senior management team led by east coast managing directors Anton Nicholas and Gordon McCoun and west coast chief executive Douglas Sherk has been named to lead the firm.

The moves are the latest steps in a significant overhaul of Morgen-Walke’s operations since the departure of David Walke and Lynn Morgen and a handful of other senior executives. Last month, the firm became part of FD International, a global investor relations and corporate communications that combines MW with London-based Financial Dynamics, and last week it brought in two new executives to lead the corporate communications and healthcare practices.

One priority appears to be expanding the firm’s portfolio of business. Morgen-Walke is a traditional IR shop, while Financial Dynamics offers a broader array of services including corporate communications, public affairs, and a lot of mergers and acquisitions business. That diversity has enabled it to weather the recession better than its U.S. sister company, which has seen headcount fall to 85 (from a high of more than 200) in the past year.

“These appointments mark a major step forward in the strengthening of FD International’s North American business,” said FD International chief executive officer Charles Watson. “The combination of our talented management team, our new seamless global approach, and new business opportunities across the entire business communications spectrum make for a very exciting time at FD International.”

Nicholas will become senior managing director and chief operating officer for FDMW’s East Coast operations, responsible for management of the company’s offices in New York and Boston.  He joined Morgen-Walke from Financial Dynamics, and was a managing director leading a New York team focused on the implementation of transatlantic projects between FD International’s U.S. and European clients.

Gordon McCoun will become senior managing director for the company’s East Coast operations with primary responsibility for overseeing FDMW’s investor relations activities. He has been with the company for five years, most recently implementing the North American portion of FD International’s global investor relations offering and leading the special projects group.

Doug Sherk will become Chief Executive Officer for the Company’s West Coast operations with responsibility for the management of the company’s San Francisco and Dallas offices. He founded the Morgen-Walke San Francisco practice in 1989, after three years at the firm’s New York office.

Jones said that with the integration of Morgen-Walke Associates and FD International now completed, “The time is right for me to pursue other interests.” He will continue to act as a consultant to the firm.

“Bob has played a key role in steering FDMW through a stormy market climate and its recent integration with the FD International network,” said Watson.  “We wish him the very best in his future plans.”
