DETROIT—Veteran General Motors communications executives Tony Cervone and Marc Beckers are taking on new assignments.

Beckers, vice president of GM communications in Europe since 1996, is moving to company headquarters in Detroit to become executive director of GM product communications, responsible for sales, service and marketing communications; product lifecycle and technical communications; and for coordinating on advanced technology issues with the company’s Washington communications staff.

Cervone has been executive director of executive and financial communications in Detroit since 2001, and will now replace Beckers in Europe. He will be responsible for internal and external communications on behalf of GM’s European operations, including its Opel, Vauxhall and Saab brands.
