NEW YORK—Sommerfield Communications, a boutique public relations and corporate communications consulting firm with offices in New York City and San Francisco, has formed Sommerfield-101, a new division offering a cost-effective, fixed-price publicity package to small businesses, start-ups, individuals and non-profits.

“Often a new organization or individual needs to put a stake in the ground with the media but doesn’t have the budget or desire to embark on a long-term communications or positioning strategy,” says Frank Sommerfield, president and founder. “Our new division, Sommerfield-101, is focused solely on helping smaller clients get a single set of messages out and publicized during a particular moment in time.”

Sommerfield101’s fixed-price package includes:
· Message session to identify key positioning points and unique claims.
· A carefully drafted press release conveying the client’s news and/or marketing messages.
· A list of appropriate individual journalists and influencers who should receive the release.
· Release distribution.
· Follow-up with journalists designed to generate media placements and articles.

According to John Sommerfield, senior consultant and head of the firm’s San Francisco office, “Ideal Sommerfield-101 clients are entrepreneurs, small business owners, small tech companies and start-ups, authors, marketing executives with limited PR resources and non-profit executives.  They’ll receive a valuable, intelligent, one-time service at a low cost, delivered through an organization with a longstanding track record helping some of the largest and best known companies and institutions meet sophisticated marketing communications and issue management objectives.”
