CHICAGO—The MWW Group has been retained by the Illinois Production Alliance to lead a strategic public affairs and lobbying effort for state incentive legislation to boost film, TV and commercial production in Illinois. The Illinois Production Alliance is a diverse coalition including labor, production companies, commercial producers, postproduction houses and filmmakers from across the state dedicated to creating opportunities for all sectors of visual media in Illinois.

FAIRFIELD, N.J.—Coyne Public Relations has hired Ronni Heyman as vice president of new business development. Heyman,a 16-year public relations veteran who has worked extensively on the client side of the business, was most recently communications director for eLUXURY.com, owned by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA.

LOS ANGELES—FischerHealth has added five new clients across its medical devices, health sciences, and health services practices. The additions include: ZLB Biolasma, a manufacturer of intravenous immunoglobin and other plasma-derived products; Kinetikos Medical, which develops surgical solutions for small bones; NDO Surgical, which makes minimally invasive medical products for the treatment of gastrointestical disease; the National Oncology Alliance, dedicated to streamlining the business of running oncology practices; and the American Society of Neuroradiology, comprised of 3,000 physicians specializing in the field.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—New York-based RLM Public Relations has joined forces with Washington, D.C., firm Venture Communications to create a public policy practice. The new operation will be led  by Naomi Seligman, currently communications director for the Violence Policy Center, a gun-control group. Seligman also served as a press secretary for Rep. Sam Farr (D-Cal.) and Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mon.), after starting her political career as a campaign worked for Sen. Edward Kennedy.

MINNEAPOLIS—QuickMedx, a Minneapolis-based health care company that specializes in treating common family illnesses through clinics in retail locations, has tapped Fast Horse, a Minneapolis-based consumer PR specialist, as its public relations agency of record. Fast Horse has been retained to develop a comprehensive public relations program for QuickMedx clinics.

EAST RUTHERFORD—Ilya Welfeld has joined the consumer marketing practice at The MWW Group as vice president. Welfeld will oversee strategic planning, program development and execution for Nikon’s photographic products divisions and several corporate and marketing communications programs. Prior to joining MWW, Welfeld was the director of public relations for GoAmerica Communications.
