Nextel Taps Carter Ryley Thomas for NASCAR PR

Nextel Communications has selected Carter Ryley Thomas as its public relations firm for the NASCAR NextelCup Series. CRT will assist with all public relations, media events and cause-related marketing initiatives.

RESTON, VA—Nextel Communications has selected Carter Ryley Thomas Public Relations and Marketing Counsel as its public relations firm for the NASCAR NextelCup Series. CRT will assist with all public relations, media events and cause-related marketing initiatives for Nextel’s title sponsorship of NASCAR’s premier series.

“CRT’s commitment to our business, its knowledge of motorsports, as well as its understanding of sponsorship marketing gives Nextel the strategic advantage we were seeking,” said Michael Mooney, corporate communications director for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series.

The CRT-Nextel relationship started in 2003 when the agency created Nextel’s cause-related marketing program with the American Red Cross.
