NEW YORK—Fitch Ratings, which provides the credit markets with independent and prospective credit opinions, research, and data, has appointed Daniel Noonan as managing director and global head of corporate communications. Noonan reports to Peter Jordan, group managing director and head of global business management and succeeds David Weinfurter, who has held the role on an interim basis since the beginning of 2010 and now resumes his previous role as head of strategy and corporate development.

Prior to joining Fitch,  Noonan spent 11 years working for Citigroup in New York and London. He joined Citi's Salomon Smith Barney unit in 1999 to manage public relations for the global fixed income division, and later held a number of leadership roles including head of corporate affairs for Europe, Middle East and Africa; global head of corporate affairs for the institutional clients group; and head of strategic communications.

Noonan previously was acting head of communications at the American Stock Exchange, and before that he managed public relations for Amex's derivatives business.
