NEW YORK — Ogilvy PR has named its managing director of strategy and planning, Jennifer Scott, as head of its New York office.

In her new post -- which she has worked in on an interim basis for several months --  Scott will work closely with the New York office’s practice group heads on overseeing client accounts, business development, talent and office operations.

Scott, who has a doctorate in politics, joined the agency in 2006 as MD of insights and research. In this role, she worked across a spectrum of industries and geographies providing counsel to clients on using research to inform reputation management and crisis response, strengthen new and established brands, advocate for public policy initiatives, work behavior change and measure the effectiveness of campaigns.

Prior to joining Ogilvy, Scott was president of StrategyOne, Edelman’s specialist research company.

"She understands the underlying business challenges [that] drive our clients' needs and she develops tangible, insights-driven solutions that drive business value," said Robert Mathias, Ogilvy’s CEO of North America.

The post was previously held by Kate Cronin, who has returned to her role as head of Ogilvy PR's healthcare practice.
