NEW YORK—The UN Organization dedicated to gender equality has brought in Ogilvy PR to oversee public relations support.

The move comes after UN Women appointed a new executive director last year — former South African deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.

Ogilvy PR, which is handling the assignment on a pro bono basis, is charged with supporting a global campaign launch that is scheduled for March of this year. EVP Jennifer Risi told the Holmes Report that the aim is to "create a substantive message — a call to action that industry, both public and private, can rally behind."

UN Women launched in 2011, as part of a concerted effort to boost UN promote gender equality, expand opportunity, and tackle discrimination around the globe. Last year, it rolled out a series of ads created by Memac Ogilvy, which used genuine Google searches to highlight the widespread prevalence of discrimination against women.
