NEW YORK—Hill & Knowlton USA has added Douglas Smith to its Washington, D.C., office as senior advisor for U.S. public affairs. Smith previously served as senior advisor on the Chicago 2016 bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, running day-to-day operations in the campaign to see Chicago selected as the U.S. candidature city for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
Smith will now consult with Chicago 2016, expanding the Chicago efforts from Washington with H&K and engaging in business development. Before joining the Chicago 2016 Exploratory Committee, Smith was chief of staff for the Academy of Achievement, running the Academy’s Summit an annual, international four-day event. He has also served as vice president for Leo Burnett Worldwide, where he managed the Army of One public affairs account for the U.S. Army.
