SAN FRANCISCO—OutCast Communications has hired Rob Cronin, formerly senior vice president of Weber Shandwick’s global technology practice, as head of the firm’s recently-opened New York City office. He will support OutCast’s East Coast-based clients, including EMC Corp.

Cronin has helped build brand awareness for technology companies such as EMC, IBM, Unisys, and service firms such as MasterCard Advisors. Working with EMC, Cronin helped launch public relations campaigns focusing on software and information lifecycle management.

Prior to Weber Shandwick, Cronin spent seven years at technology PR firm TSI Communications.

“We have been planning an eastern expansion for some time now,” said OutCast co-founder Margit Wennmachers. “With a growing client base on the East Coast, we needed to be able to offer the same level of personal attention and client connections our Silicon Valley-based clients have come to expect.  For us to leverage our reputation outside of Silicon Valley, we need senior people on the street of the caliber of Rob Cronin.”
