LOS ANGELES—PainePR, a subsidiary of Canadian-based Cossette Communication Group, has hired veteran corporate communications counselor Steve Hawkins as managing partner, based in its Los Angeles office.  Hawkins will head the agency’s corporate communications practice nationally, leveraging 30 years of experience in corporate reputation management, crisis counsel, and media relations across a variety of sectors.

Most recently, Hawkins worked as managing director and senior vice president with Burson-Marsteller in Los Angeles. He also has in-house experience as PR director with Amgen.  Hawkins started his career as a journalist and has worked with prestigious publications including U.S. News and World Report Magazine and McGraw-Hill World News/Business Week Magazine among others.

“In today’s new media climate, where literally everything a company does can be disseminated widely and instantaneously both offline and online, the once distinct and separate consumer and corporate reputation disciplines need to be merged, and innovative branded communications firms, like PainePR, need to be able to provide clients with a completely convergent strategic approach that addresses the total communications needs of these organizations,” says David Paine, founder of PainePR.

Hawkins will provide communications support for many PainePR key accounts, including Procter & Gamble, Sony, UC Irvine Hospital, American Suzuki and others.
