NEW YORK—Stuart Pearlman, a veteran investor relations practitioner whose eponymous firm was acquired by high-tech PR specialist Phase Two Strategies five years ago, is joining The Torrenzano Group as senior account director.

Pearlman’s responsibilities will include working with new and existing clients, as well as helping to lead Torrenzano Financial, a special unit of the firm that serves the strategic and tactical financial communications needs of smaller-capitalization publicly held companies. In addition, he will serve as a member of Torrenzano’s management committee.

“Stuart’s strong consulting and operational capabilities, as well as his long and distinguished career, make him a great fit with our core group of senior practitioners,” said Edward Orgon, chief operating officer.

Pearlman comes to Torrenzano with more than 30 years of experience in corporate communications and investor relations, on both the client side and as head of his own public relations firm. Most recently, he spent five years as the New York-based senior director of Phase Two Strategies, which acquired Stuart Pearlman & Company in 1997. Prior to founding his own firm in 1983, Pearlman served as a senior corporate public relations executive at Chemical Bank and Loral Corporation. Earlier in his career he also held positions at IBM and the General Electric.
