BOSTON—Bill Lane, a veteran reporter, editor and online journalist, has joined The Castle Group from the Boston Business Journal, where he was managing editor since 2001. Lane joins Group as vice president, public relations and will work with the agency’s clients to craft and implement communications and media relations strategies. He will also help grow the agency’s roster of dynamic, innovative client companies. Lane was previously business editor of the MetroWest Daily News and he supervised bureaus in six Northeastern cities for online business news Web site dBusiness.com, in addition to his work as managing editor of the Boston Business Journal.

Fruchterman, who most recently served as vice president of government affairs for MCI/Worldcom, will drive the firm’s high tech and telecommunications business.
NEW YORK—Global reputation analysis firm Echo Research has appointed Catherine Reynolds Shores as senior vice president in the New York office. Reynolds Shores is a communications research professional who was most recently director of research for Hill Holliday Advertising. She has held senior research positions at Harris Interactive, Yankelovich Partners and Wirthlin Worldwide, specializing in research used for public release, crisis research, corporate identity and reputation management.
CHESTERFIELD, MO—Reliv International, manufacturer and marketer of a proprietary line of nutritional supplements, has named Barry Murov director of corporate communications. In this newly created position, Murov will lead the company’s public relations, employee communications and other areas of corporate communications. Murov has worked in both corporate and agency roles, most recently with brewer Anheuser-Busch and prior to that, with Fleishman-Hillard. Prior to the public relations field, he was a journalist for nine years.
LANHAM, MD—Vocus, which provides on-demand software for corporate communications and public relations, has hired William Wagner to the newly created position of chief marketing officer, responsible for expanding the role of marketing as the driver for Vocus’ continued growth in new and existing market segments. He will lead product management, product marketing, field and channel marketing, branding, advertising, marketing communications and public relations. Prior to joining Vocus, Wagner was chief marketing officer at Fiberlink Communications, where he repositioned the company as a global leader in security and mobility software for the enterprise market. He also spent more than 10 years in marketing and sales leadership positions at AT&T.
