A promotion for Warner Bros. communications exec; a new partner at 5W; a new business development pro at Conover Tuttle Pace; and a new VP at Matter.

LOS ANGELES—Steven Piorkowski has been promoted to vice president of corporate communications at Warner Bros. Entertainment. Piorkowski will work with the company’s corporate communications team on messaging and positioning for the company with both internal and external audiences. In addition, he will prepare corporate press releases, internal communications, presentations and speeches for the company’s corporate officers. Piorkowski has been with the company for 18 years, most recently serving as executive director of corporate communications

 

NEW YORK—5W Public Relations has named executive vice president and general manager Adam Handelsman as partner. Since 5W acquired Handelsman Public Relations in June of 2004, Handelsman has played a role in growing the firm. In addition to overseeing the management and account services at 5W, he spends his time developing staff, and providing senior level account strategy and message development on many of the firm's anchor accounts.

 

BOSTON—Conover Tuttle Pace, a Boston-based integrated advertising and public relations agency, has added Steve Angel as vice president of new business development. Angel will direct strategic and tactical business development initiatives for one of Boston’s fastest-growing agencies. Angel previously spent five years at Providence-based RDW Group, where he led all of the company’s new business initiatives and engagement planning, bringing on accounts such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Kopin Semiconductor, and Dunkin Donuts National Distribution Centers.

 

NEWBURYPORT, MA—Matter Communications, a full-service public relations agency specializing in consumer and high-technology markets, has promoted Matt Landry, a founding Matter employee, to the position of vice president. The company also added Charna Cummings, a public relations veteran with more than 10 years’ experience in PR agency positions, as senior account executive. Landry joined Matter after holding positions at several public relations agencies, including Miller/Shandwick Technologies (now Weber Shandwick), LNS Communications and Topaz Partners.
