Tom Becker, Bloomberg’s lead national reporter on corporate bankruptcy and restructuring issues, is joining the New York office office of Sitrick & Company.

NEW YORK—Tom Becker, Bloomberg’s lead national reporter on corporate bankruptcy and restructuring issues, is joining the New York office office of Sitrick & Company. While at Bloomberg, Becker covered a number of high-profile Chapter 11 filings, including Delphi, Delta Air Lines, Adelphia Communications, Refco, and Enron. He has also reported extensively on white-collar crime and shareholder litigation. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Becker was Dow Jones’ lead reporter on the telecommunications equipment and information storage sectors. Early in his career he was a reporter with The Los Angeles Times’ San Fernando Valley Edition.

STOCKHOLM—Ewa Lagerqvist has been appointed head of corporate communications at TeliaSonera, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the Nordic and Baltic regions. Lagerqvist, who is currently head of communications at SJ (Swedish Railways), succeeds Michael Kongstad, who had been head of corporate communications since 2001. Previously, she was a broadcast journalist and tabloid reporter. She has also held positions as marketing director of Grand Hotel Holdings and of Fritidsresegruppen, a travel agency company. In her new position Ewa Lagerqvist will co-ordinate TeliaSonera’s strategic communication in all markets, which includes responsibility for all the TeliaSonera brands.

LOS ANGELES—Lagrant Communications has named Cassandra Gray managing director of the firm’s Nashville, Tenn. office. As managing director, Gray will provide strategic and senior counsel on the American Airlines, Nissan North America and The Island Of The Bahamas accounts and is responsible for media coverage through national, regional and local African American and general market media. Prior to joining the firm, Gray was manager of client relations in the Southeast region for Inroads, the nation’s largest non-profit source of salaried corporate internships for black, Hispanic/Latino and Native American college students. Earlier, she was a market specialist for Aegis Marketing Group.

LONDON—Healthcare public relations specialist Resolute has hired six additional staff members, including Con Franklin, who joins Resolute as an account director, moving from Morgan Allen Moore where for the past seven years he managed healthcare public affairs initiatives for major clients including Abbott Laboratories and Boston Scientific and also played a key role in establishing the firm’s medical technology group.  Caroline Barnett, who joins as senior medical writer, has expertise in the medical education discipline across a wide range of therapeutic areas including nephrology, oncology, allergy and osteoporosis.  In addition to Franklin and Bennett, Resolute has hired account manager Joanne Fullam, and a trio of junior account executives.

SKOKIE, IL—Topco Associates, a privately held companies that aggregates purchases for 60 food industry members, has named Virginia Mann director of corporate communications. Mann will be responsible for Topco’s internal and external communications and public relations and will report directly to Steven Lauer, president and chief executive officer. Mann most recently was part of the corporate communications team at Hewitt Associates, a leading provider of human resources outsourcing and consulting services. Prior to that, she led her own communications, public relations, and public affairs consulting firm, and was manager of public and financial relations for Brunswick Corporation.

PHILADELPHIA—Vox Medica, one of the largest independent healthcare communications firms in the country, has added Kelly Cacioppo and Jeff McLaughlin to its healthcare public relations group. Cacioppo joins Vox Medica as vice president from GCI in New York. McLaughlin joins as account supervisor from Spectrum Science Communications in Washington, D.C.
