American International Automobile Dealers Association today has appointed Department of Transportation appointee Lori McMahon as vice president of public and industry relations.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—The American International Automobile Dealers Association today has appointed Department of Transportation appointee Lori McMahon as vice president of public and industry relations. In a newly-created role, McMahon will assume leadership of AIADA’s communications and marketing efforts and will focus on communicating with the membership and developing strategic public relations initiatives that will create awareness and advocate the benefits of the international auto industry.  Most recently, McMahon served as White House liaison and counselor to the secretary and deputy secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Prior to her stint at the DoT, she was director of surrogate operations for Bush-Cheney 2004 and communications director for U.S. Congressman Michael Burgess (R-Tex.)

NEW YORK—Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has hired Peter Gawrychowski as its new chief financial officer. Gawrychowski comes to Ogilvy PR from Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, where he served as senior partner and finance director for over six years. “We were looking for a CFO who not only had the financial experience, but also understood the business of communications,” says global CEO Marcia Silverman. Prior to joining Ogilvy & Mather, Gawrychowski served as executive vice president and managing director of finance with the New York office of Lowe Worldwide. 

SAN DIEGO—Zogenix, a privately held specialty pharmaceutical company, has named J.D. Haldeman vice president of commercial strategy and corporate communications and an officer of the company.  Before joining Zogenix, Haldeman was vice president of marketing at InterMune. Previously, she spent nine years at Parke-Davis (now Pfizer) where she co-led the launch of Neurontin.

TORONTO—Mary Powers has been named senior vice president of corporate communications, Bell Globemedia. Prior to joining BGM, Powers worked at CHUM Limited, where most recently she was vice president, communications, directing all corporate and divisional communications, in both the domestic
and international marketplaces.

EDMONTON—Rentcash has named Michael Thompson vice president of investor relations and government affairs. Thompson is the former President of the Canadian Payday Loan Association, where he was instrumental in securing recently tabled federal legislation that will enable provincial regulation of the payday loan industry.

EDGEFIELD, SC—Quail Unlimited, a leader in quail conservation, has named Craig Alderman director of marketing and public relations. Alderman is the author of a book entitled Habitat Management Using ATVs and Compact Equipment.
