PLEASANTON, June 8—PeopleSoft, a leading supplies of business enterprise software, has selected Porter Novelli as its U.S. public relations firm of record. The selection follows a review of public relations firms with global capabilities and broad industry expertise. PeopleSoft had been using San Francisco-based technology PR specialist Phase Two Strategies until earlier this year.

“PeopleSoft was looking for the right combination of resources and expertise to deliver at both a strategic and tactical level, as well as offer a global perspective,” said chief marketing officer Nanci Caldwell, who said the company met with 10 agencies and heard formal presentations from five after initiating a review in February.

Porter Novelli won the business with a nationwide team lead by partner and general manager Rhonda Shantz. Porter Novelli’s newly appointed CEO of the Americas Gary Stockman will join Shantz and other leaders at Porter Novelli to provide senior-level strategic counsel. Day-to-day operations will be managed out of the company’s San Francisco office.

According to Stockman, “PeopleSoft’s emergence in a leadership position across the entire enterprise marketplace gives us a rich opportunity to deploy our strategic brand insights and depth of sector knowledge.”

A key part of the firm’s assignment will involve guiding PeopleSoft through a “growth shift” as its revenues approach the $5 billion mark.
