NEW YORK—Peppercom has beaten out technology specialist FitzGerald Communications to be named U.S. public relations agency of record by British Telecommunications, a leading international provider of information and communications technology services.

Peppercom’s responsibilities will include a wide range of strategic public relations initiatives designed to gain visibility for BT as a leading provider of telecommunications management solutions for global corporations headquartered in the United States. Deborah Brown, partner and senior director at Peppercom, will manage the account team.

“Peppercom was selected because of its enthusiasm, creativity and excellent references,” says Diane Noe, U.S. public relations manager for BT. “It has worked with various telecommunications firms in the past and we believe this relevant experience will help our company expand its global influence, and position us as a key player in the United States.”

BT had previously worked in the U.S. with AT&T, through a joint venture called Concert Communications, but the joint venture ended in April of this year. BT now provides information and communications technology services and customized solutions to multinational customers.
