PITTSBURGH—GNC Corporation, the specialty retailer of nutritional supplements, has named veteran financial communications executive Benjamin Pratt as senior director of corporate communications. The company recently embarked on a turnaround exercise that will include the buyback of several franchises after declining sales tied to the demise of the low-carb diet fad.

Pratt is responsible for all aspects of corporate communications, including investor and media relations as well as communication with GNC’s company-owned and franchised stores.

Prior to joining GNC, Pratt was director of financial communications at The PNC Financial Services Group in Pittsburgh. Earlier, he served as vice president of investor relations at Lehman Brothers Inc. and associate director of corporate communications at Bear Stearns & Co.

GNC, headquartered in Pittsburgh, operates 2,633 company- owned stores in the U.S. and Canada and has 1,212 franchised locations.
