NEW YORK—Porter Novelli has been selected to provide explorer Jim McNeill with communications support prior to and following his unprecedented solo expedition to all four North Poles in a single season. McNeill’s 1,100-mile journey began in northern Canada on February 20, and he plans to reach the Geographic Pole in mid-June, by which time, he will be the first person to ever reach all four North Poles and the first person to ever visit the furthest point on earth from land, the Arctic Pole.
Porter Novelli’s role will be to support McNeill’s communications needs such as securing media opportunities and enlisting a media partner for exclusive behind the scenes coverage. The Porter Novelli team will work with project sponsors to raise visibility for the groundbreaking endeavor.
During the expedition, McNeill will assess the depletion of Arctic sea ice as a result of global warming for NASA. The ability to store and send updates on his research will be critical, and McNeill will rely on the generosity of sponsors while he is on the ice, making Porter Novelli’s task of raising media awareness paramount.
