PR Exec Tilden Named COO at InterDigital

Charles “Rip” Tilden, formerly vice president of communications and investor relations for wireless technology company Interdigital Communications has been promoted to chief operating officer.

KING OF PRUSSIA, December 4—Charles “Rip” Tilden, formerly vice president of communications and investor relations for wireless technology company Interdigital Communications has been promoted to chief operating officer. He will be responsible for ensuring high levels of performance, customer satisfaction and superior value creation across the company.
 
According to Howard Goldberg, president and chief executive officer. “Our success will be determined by our ability to execute our strategic plan. That requires excellence in operating performance. Rip’s consistent outstanding performance demonstrates that he has the right background and skills to lead operations as we pursue that goal.”
 
Tilden joined InterDigital in 1996 to head communications and investor relations, and later added responsibility for strategic planning. Previously, he was vice president of corporate affairs with Alco Standard, an office products and paper distribution company, and held communications positions at A.T. Kearney, Gencorp and Montgomery Ward.
 
He is replaced in the senior communications role by Guy Hicks, who joins as vice president, communications and investor relations from Structural Dynamics Research Corporation. Hicks will be responsible for directing all of InterDigital’s internal and external communications programs and will report directly to Tilden.
    
At SDRC, an international enterprise product development software company, Hicks was vice president, corporate communications.
