Produce Group Hires Stewart for Senior Communications Role

Julia Stewart has joined the Produce Marketing Association to manage its public relations and crisis communications activities. As the association’s new public relations director, Stewart will direct the association’s integrated communications with members and other publics.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Julia Stewart has joined the Produce Marketing Association to manage its public relations and crisis communications activities. As the association’s new public relations director, Stewart will work with PMA staff and management to direct the association’s integrated communications with members and other publics, serve as a media spokesperson, and direct PMA’s crisis prevention, mitigation and management activities.

 

Stewart has more than 15 years’ experience in produce industry promotional and crisis communications, gained in the apple industry and most recently as an industry consultant. Most recently, she managed Clarity Communications, a consultancy specializing in marketing public relations and crisis communications that she founded in 2004.

 

Prior to founding Clarity, Stewart was vice president of public relations for U.S. Apple Association, where she directed the association’s consumer outreach activities to promote U.S. apples and apple products, including founding the apple industry’s nutrition research and promotion program. She also directed the apple industry’s crisis communications activities on issues ranging from food safety to biotechnology. She also held communication positions with the American Forest Council, the communications arm of the National Forest Products Association.
