Rental Giant Blockbuster Taps Chime Unit Resonate

Video rental giant Blockbuster U.K., which operates 700 stores around the country, has appointed Resonate to handle its U.K. consumer PR needs. Resonate, which is a unit of public relations holding company Chime, takes over from Attenborough Saffron.

LONDON—Video rental giant Blockbuster U.K., which operates 700 stores around the country, has appointed Resonate to handle its U.K. consumer PR needs. Resonate, which is a unit of public relations holding company Chime, takes over from Attenborough Saffron, which has worked with Blockbuster since September 2002.

According to Blockbuster U.K. public relations and public affairs manager Jane Lamberth, “Our PR needs have changed over the last few years as the rental market is facing new challenges so it seemed right to review the best way forward. Resonate brings some different thinking to our business and we believe this fresh approach will strengthen our position in the months to come.”

Resonate will handle day-to-day media relations work as well as initiating innovative PR campaigns to promote Blockbuster services including movies and games rental, trade-in and retail. The firm will also support Blockbuster’s relationship with Starlight Children’s Foundation, a charity for seriously and terminally ill children.
