NEW YORK, July 3—After 18 years with investor relations firm Morgen-Walke Associates, Terry Rooney is moving to the corporate side of the business, joining money management firm M&R Capital Management as director marketing and communications. Rooney will report to president John Maloney and will focus his energies on promoting the firm’s value-oriented investment style, which Maloney says is well suited to the current uncertain investment environment.
Rooney says his decision to leave Morgen-Walke was unrelated to the resignation last week of founding partner David Walke and the appointment of Bob Jones as the firm’s new president.
“I have never done the same thing twice,” he says. “I’ve worked in the non-profit sector, I’ve worked as a political consultant in Albany, and for the past 18 years I’ve worked in financial PR. This gives me a chance to spread my wings on the corporate side, to develop a strategic marketing plan and helping to brand a company.”
M&R, founded in 1995, manages assets of around $300 million.
